A draft copy of the Scottish Government Blue Carbon Action Plan is now available and seeking feedback from key stakeholders. This draft copy has not yet been signed off by Ministers and may be subject to further changes.
The Blue Carbon Action Plan is designed to set out the Scottish Government’s position on and priorities for blue carbon habitats. It sets out the actions we are taking to address priority evidence gaps and highlights the policy landscape and upcoming developments relevant to blue carbon habitats. The emphasis in the plan is on the need to protect existing carbon stores in blue carbon habitats, whilst also recognising that some habitats may be able to make a small contribution to achieving net zero. The actions are organised by habitat in section 4, and a table summarising all actions is contained at the end of the plan as well.
If you would be interested in providing feedback, please email masts@st-andrews.ac.uk and we will send you a copy of the draft plan, along with a brief questionnaire containing several high level questions and free text boxes to facilitate feedback. The questions are not mandatory.
The deadline to return questionnaires or send feedback is 18th June.
If you would prefer to meet to discuss the action plan or provide feedback directly, please contact Robbie Pye and that can be arranged.
