The German Research Foundation (Deutches Forschungsgemeinschaft, DFG) has selected Scotland as their European partner for a targeted matchmaking initiative for Universities of Applied Sciences that have more focus on applied, practical, and vocational training.
The topic for this matchmaking is Health and the Environment but encompasses any topics relevant to One Health or establishing a healthy future globally.
Roughly the subthemes will be: Human Health, Animal Health, Environmental Health, and Food Security
Researchers can choose to submit an abstract detailing their expertise and interest in being matched with experts from the other country, or they can submit an abstract and poster on a particular topic that they are seeking to connect with experts on. The deadline for submission is March 6th. Researchers will then take part in a virtual matchmaking event on April 24th where they will be able to present their poster and have discussion with researchers from both countries within their subtheme (subthemes may change slightly based on abstracts/posters received)
To further support matchmaking, we will run a virtual information session on May 8th where researchers will learn about international funding opportunities to support the progression of their connection with other researchers.
Finally, in autumn 2024, a delegation of German academics from the Universities of Applied Sciences and DFG will visit Scotland.
