ITOPF R&D Award for research on issues related to accidental marine pollution from ships. £60,000 available and £40,000 for PhDs. (deadline 2 December)

We would like to inform you about the ITOPF R&D Award and invite you to respond to our 2023 call for tenders.

The ITOPF R&D Award provides financial support for projects which have the potential to improve our knowledge and understanding of issues related to accidental marine pollution from ships.

Up to £60,000 is available for short-term projects (1-2 years) and up to £40,000 for PhD projects plus a student stipend and university fees.

The purpose of this initiative is to encourage and facilitate organisations worldwide to develop ideas that can potentially provide solutions to some of the challenges faced by the spill response community.

The application process is open from 1st September 2022 to 2nd December 2022

The 2022 Award winner will be announced in March 2023

By way of background, ITOPF is recognised and respected globally as a source of objective technical expertise in the area of accidental spills of oil, chemicals, and other cargoes and substances in the marine environment.  We are maintained on a not-for-profit basis by the world’s shipowners and their insurers and our mission is to promote effective spill response.
