Applications are invited for new challenge-led Centres for Doctoral Training (CDTs) that will address priority or emerging training needs within the environmental sciences. These challenge-led CDTs will produce the next generation of internationally recognised doctoral researchers with each CDT supporting PhD studentships, creating a community aimed at addressing a specific research challenge and related skills gap. Applications must identify the challenge of focus for the CDT and justify the specific need for doctoral training in this area.
Funding is available to support 3 CDTs, each in receipt of 24 notional studentships across three annual intakes. The first cohorts of students funded through these CDTs will start in October 2024.
You can apply if you are employed by an organisation eligible for UKRI research grant funding.
- Organisations may only be the administrative lead on one application.
- Organisations that are not eligible for funding may act as collaborative partners.
This funding opportunity has a two-stage assessment process:
Closing date for outline applications: 13 June 2023
Following an outline assessment panel, successful applicants will be invited to submit a full application.
Closing date for full applications: 24 October 2023
