Centre of Expertise for Waters (CREW)

Scotland’s Centre of Expertise for Waters (CREW) connects research and policy, delivering objective and robust research and expert opinion to support the development and implementation of water policy in Scotland. CREW is a Scottish Government funded partnership between the James Hutton Institute and Scottish Higher Education Institutes.

CREW links to policy in the following ways:

  • via a call down service for work requiring a quick response
  • by carrying out capacity building research projects
  • via dissemination of research
  • by proactively assessing future research needs.

Funding is available to Scottish HEIs to complete research on behalf of CREW. The procurement of research and advice from HEI’s is supported by the MASTS Directorate.

To complete work for CREW you will need to register as an expert with us. Please email us for more information and visit our calls for proposals page for further details. A list of CREW projects with HEI involvement can be viewed here. You can visit the CREW website here.
