Climate X Change (CXC) is Scotland’s centre of expertise connecting climate change research and policy.
CXC provides targeted academic outputs to support the short and medium-term needs of Scotland’s policy development. For example, Marine Scotland asked CXC to provide a short brief about Blue Carbon (i.e. the ability of coastal ecosystems to absorb and store carbon). The report focussed on saltmarsh, seagrass beds and kelp forests. This briefing document was produced by MASTS member, Dr Henrik Stahl of SAMS.
CXC provided MASTS with funds to sponsor a climate change PhD studentship. This was issued as an open competitive call in October 2012. Following review, the funds have been awarded to Dr Stojanovic and Dr Bates of the University of St Andrews. More details of the studentship will follow soon.
