Assistant Professor in Blue Economy and Marine Governance – Heriot Watt University

A part-time or full-time teaching and research position for an early/mid-career academic in the broad field of marine governance, particularly the socio-economic aspects. We are interested in applicants with a strong track record of research in marine resources and their management, with expertise in one or more of the following: marine/coastal governance and planning; allocation of marine resources; blue economy; environment/economy interactions generally; and the implications of ‘net zero carbon’ for coastal communities. Candidates with a wider background in marine sciences are welcome to apply.

Contract Type: Part time or Full time (we’re trying to encourage women to apply who might need/want part time)

Duration: Open-ended

Benefits: 33 days of annual leave plus 9 buildings closed days around Christmas. USS pension scheme, with HWU contributing 22.5% of the salary.
