The School of Biological and Marine Science, Faculty of Science and Engineering, is looking to appoint a highly motivated lecturer within the Biological Sciences area. This is an exciting chance to be part of a progressive and cutting-edge University in a beautiful location, where you can really make a difference.
You will combine enthusiastic and research-informed teaching with developing your research profile in line with our existing research strengths
(https://www.plymouth.ac.uk/schools/school-of-biological-and-marine-sciences). You will contribute to teaching across the Biological Sciences Subject Group at both undergraduate and postgraduate level and this role is most closely aligned with our Biological Sciences and Zoology degrees. You will be expected to generate, deliver and assess teaching sessions that might include lectures, tutorials, laboratory work and field work as well as contributing to leadership positions within the school. Ability to teach stats in R and availability to contribute to residential (overseas) field courses would be desirable. We particularly encourage those with research interests within the general remit of zoology/evolution to apply.
You will have a doctoral degree in a relevant field, supported by experience at postdoctoral or equivalent level, and a proven research track record relevant to one of our research themes demonstrated through high calibre outputs of a quality likely to contribute to our future UK Research Excellence Framework (REF) submission. Every member of staff at Plymouth University contributes to delivering the University’s mission to advance knowledge and transform lives through education and research.
Please demonstrate how you meet the essential criteria outlined in the knowledge, qualifications, training and experience elements of the job description in your supporting statement as well as how you complement our existing strengths. Please also ensure you include a full CV.
For an informal discussion to find out more about the role then please contact Dr Rich Billington by email [email protected] or by telephone (mobile number available on request by email due to current Covid-19 situation).
