Marine Fish & Fisheries Specialist Advisor -Natural Resources of Wales

Salary: £37,308-£40,806 (Grade 6)

Location: Flexible

The Role
We are looking for someone to play a key role in advising on the potential impacts of developments and activities in the marine and coastal environment. You will provide technical and specialist advice on marine fish and fisheries in relation to development proposals, including offshore renewable energy. You will work collaboratively with colleagues from other teams and Directorates across Natural Resources Wales (NRW), contributing to NRW’s organisation-wide Marine Programme including the Offshore Renewable Energy Programme.

Applications to this role will be assessed based on the following criteria both at shortlisting and interview. In your job application please demonstrate, using the STAR method, how you meet the requirements outlined below.

Substantial experience in provision of specialist technical marine fish/fisheries advice, at a regional or all-Wales level.
Significant knowledge of marine legislative requirements particularly marine conservation such as Habitats Regulation Assessments and Environmental Impact Assessments.
Good understanding of the marine and coastal development sectors, including renewable energy.
Strong analytical and research skills.
Good project management, work planning and prioritisation skills.
Ability to build positive, collaborative working relationships and networks.
Ability to communicate complex specialist advice and information clearly to multiple audiences.
Strong Influencing skills and ability to communicate, negotiate and collaborate effectively both internally and externally at senior levels.

Essential: Level 1 – able to pronounce Welsh and use basic phrases
