NatureScot is Scotland’s nature agency. We are committed to working with others to tackle both the climate emergency and biodiversity loss to ensure a nature-rich future for all. To help Scottish Government deliver the required step change in marine protection, we are looking for applications from people with a natural sciences background to join a team working on Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) and Priority Marine Features (PMFs).
The post will support the delivery of management measures in existing MPAs and key coastal biodiversity locations outside of these sites by 2024, and the identification of a suite of new, Highly Protected Marine Areas (HPMAs) by 2026.
The post is a full-time, four-year fixed-term appointment within the Marine Ecosystems Activity Team. The successful candidate will work closely with existing MPA staff as well as colleagues across the organisation. The post-holder will be required to contribute to the wider work of the Marine Ecosystems Activity Team.
NatureScot is Scotland’s nature agency. Scotland’s nature and landscapes are among our greatest assets. We work to improve our natural environment in Scotland and inspire everyone to care more about it so that all nature in Scotland – our key habitats and landscapes, all our green space and our native species – is maintained and enhanced.
Nature is vital to all of us, so it is vital that we are an organisation for all of Scotland. The more diverse NatureScot is, the better we will be in connecting everyone with nature. We particularly encourage applications from people from Minority Ethnic (ME) backgrounds and people with a disability.
