This is a permanent, full-time role within NatureScot’s Sustainable Coasts & Seas (SCS) Activity. The successful candidate will be part of a team providing advice on marine and coastal planning, marine and coastal ecology and sustainable coastal and marine development. This post will directly contribute to NatureScot’s role in addressing climate change and biodiversity loss. The post will have specific responsibilities to contribute to NatureScot’s work on coasts, including coastal adaptation and nature-based solutions for biodiversity and climate change, and the role of coastal habitats as blue carbon stores. The post holder will also provide advice for marine non-native species. The role will principally involve providing ecological advice to inform and support our approaches to and delivery of NatureScot’s work for these topics. Associated activities, depending upon capacity and expertise, may include input to research projects, and representation of NatureScot on working groups and wider partnerships to develop further knowledge and working relationships in key topic areas.
Whether working at home or in an office, or travelling to meetings and site visits, as a NatureScot you will contribute to our Net Zero plan, for example through positive carbon travel choices.
