Principal Investigator in Physical Oceanography – SAMS

Full Time/Part

Time: Full Time – 37 hrs per week Duration of Appointment: Permanent

SAMS is seeking to flexibly appoint two Principal Investigators in Physical Oceanography. We welcome applications covering a range of areas of expertise. Our aim is to make complementary appointments so that the appointees are able to collaborate with each other and with the current team at SAMS. Posts may be appointed at the same or at different levels.

Both posts are expected to:

Provide a level of leadership within SAMS Physical Oceanography research team; Generate world-leading research outputs; Develop ideas for new cutting-edge research programs in these areas and actively pursue grant funding to execute these ideas; Strengthen SAMS submission to the REF exercises; You will also provide module leadership on SAMS Marine Science BSc course and/or other educational programmes, supervise SAMS/other students as well as line manage and coach early career researchers. There is also an expectation that you will also support SAMS enterprise/commercial activities.
