We are seeking a Research Assistant/Postdoctoral Research Assistant with experience in CMOS camera imaging approaches in microscopy or related fields to join an exciting NERC-funded project to help develop novel approaches for the measurement of photosynthesis in marine phytoplankton. The project aims to integrate established single cell chlorophyll photophysiology (PAM fluorimetry) approaches for wide field microscopy with the novel Mesolens imaging system (http://www.strathclydemesolab.com ; www.mesolens.com ). The role will involve adapting existing PAM imaging hardware and software as well as the development of new protocols for integrating excitation light sources with a high-resolution CMOS camera for assessment of photosynthetic chlorophyll fluorescence parameters.
The successful candidate will have experience in the development of laboratory optical systems, specifically in the control and integration of an LED light source with a CCD/CMOS camera. A knowledge of fluorescence microscopy and PAM fluorimetry is desirable but not essential.
