Solent Fieldwork Officer – Project Seagrass

Job Title: Solent Fieldwork Officer
Salary: £25,000
(relocation costs unavailable)
Hours of work: Full time, 35 hours per week, flexible hours, to include weekend and bank
holiday working as required.
Contract: 1 year fixed term
Location: Project Seagrass Head Office, Unit 1 Garth Drive, Brackla Industrial Estate,
Bridgend with frequent travel to the Solent for fieldwork.

Introduction

Project Seagrass is an environmental charity devoted to the conservation of seagrass
ecosystems through community, research and action. Our mission is to lead societal
change to enable the recognition, recovery and resilience of seagrass ecosystems
globally; that provide biodiversity, equitable and sustainable livelihoods and planetary
life support.
Project Seagrass is a delivery partner in the UK’s biggest seascape restoration project
(Solent Seascape), in partnership with Blue Marine, HIWWT, Portsmouth University
and others.
This fixed-term fieldwork officer position will be based at our Head Office providing
support for the delivery of this major project. This position will require an outgoing
individual with a passion for the marine environment and the energy, enthusiasm, and
initiative to help make the Solent Seascape Project a success.

Essential criteria:
1. BSc in Marine Biology or similar
2. Experience of marine and coastal fieldwork
3. Excellent organisational and time management skills and ability to work to tight
deadlines
4. Current full UK driving licence
5. Willingness to spend extended time in the field and where required, work
weekends and unsociable hours
