Launch event of the open-access Sea-Swallows Engineering Tool

June 23 @ 11:30 am - 4:00 pm

We are delighted to invite you to the launch of the Sea-Swallows Engineering Tool, a new open-access engineering tool that delivers fast and accurate predictions of nonlinear wave loading on monopile-type offshore wind-turbine foundations. The Sea-Swallows Engineering Tool is developed by a consortium led by the Universities of Bath, Oxford, and Strathclyde, and is one of the outcomes of the EPSRC project EP/V050079/1), Severe Storm Wave Loads on Offshore Wind Turbine Foundations (Sea-Swallows).

Launch event details:

Time and Date: 11:30 – 16:00 (BST), 23 June 2025

Venue: This is a hybrid event.  The main venue is at the University of Bath, you can also join the launch event online. Locations and the online meeting link will be sent separately later.

Registration: Attendance is free; please register by 15 June, 2025. Please register here: https://forms.gle/rt9stV8jby3DuuWm7

About the Sea-Swallows engineering tool

Sea-Swallows Engineering Tool is a new open-access engineering tool that delivers fast and accurate predictions of nonlinear wave loading on monopile-type offshore wind-turbine foundations. It is based on a Machine Learning engineering model, trained over a large number of experiments and numerical simulations, that uses a “Stokes-type” force formulation. This Stokes-GP model approximates the higher-order force harmonics (2nd – 5th) by correlating them to powers of the linear force, as discovered through our large-scale experiments. By incorporating all force components, this Sea-Swallows Engineering Tool is capable of providing more accurate severe storm wave loading predictions over a wide range of sea-states.
