Converge, based at Heriot-Watt’s GRID, has partnered with Orbital Marine Power to launch a £50,000 equity-free prize aimed at accelerating innovation in the blue economy. Beyond the prize package, our new partnership offers blue economy innovators a direct route to future Orbital partnerships, supply chain integration and the creation of investible new ventures.
To be eligible for this prize, candidates must first secure a place on the Converge programme. Dedicated to helping researchers translate their research and ideas into sustainable businesses, Converge is Scotland’s entrepreneurial programme for the university sector. Applications for Converge’s 2026 programme are open until Thursday 2 April and you can find full details on the benefits and application process here: www.convergechallenge.com.
Regarding the Blue Economy opportunity, this is open to a broad range of sectors including marine renewable energy, aquaculture, blue biotechnology, habitat restoration and more.
Please see more details on the Blue Economy Award.
