Qualifications and Experience
The successful candidate must possess a PhD, which should be in Marine Biology, Marine Ecology or a closely related field.
Candidates should also possess:
- Undergraduate university teaching in the field of Marine Biology/Ecology and related disciplines
- A good record of impactful research and publications in reputable, peer-reviewed journals and scholarly focus on at least one (1) of the following three marine thematic areas (alphabetic order)
o ecosystem health
o coastal and ocean processes
o natural resources
- Evidence of success in securing external research funding and pursuing independent research in areas that complement the Department of Life Sciences
- Evidence of success in coordinating and overseeing a marine biology/ecology laboratory
- Demonstrated competencies in marine sampling, modern marine analytical methods and evidence of active participation in marine research cruises or expeditions
